Still hoping
Payton's heart/transplant surgeon stopped by again today. He said she's still holding up really well which is good news. They will take her back to the OR again on Mon. to again, clean things up and keep checking on her. At this point the plan is to do an extended/steady decrease on the heart/lung machine (ECMO is what it's called - I get tired of typing it out) to see how her heart does. I talked to the director of the heart/lung machine (ECMO) program to have him fill me in a little more. If you recall this was the original plan last week, but it was cancelled. Two nights ago they changed over all the circuitry on the ECMO and gave her a blood transfusion. With this she was off ECMO for 4-5 minutes and her heart held up pretty well during that time. He feels that in order to ask for a heart in good conscience we need to be absolutely sure that she can't come off ECMO. The doctors don't really think it'll work, but obviously, it's a serious thing to get a heart from a donor and they want to make absolutely sure all other routes are exhausted. This won't hurt her, and she'll of course be monitored. I write all this to say, wouldn't it be amazing for the Lord to heal her and for her to be able to come off and not need the transplant. We don't know what His plan is, but that's what we'll be praying for, and we continue to ask you to pray with us. Again, thank you so much for your posts and prayers and encouragement. We love and miss you, the Joneses

Aaron and Heather are a beautiful example of God's love and grace and continue to amaze me with their steadfast witness for the Lord. Sunday is Heather's birthday and if anyone would like to send her a card, she can be reached at Ronald McDonald House; 820 2nd St. SW; Rochester, MN 55902 (sorry, Heather. I know you don't want the attention but I'm your mother)
Thank you for your prayers on behalf of our beautiful Payton.
In grateful appreciation to all of you,
Heather's mom, Ila
We are definitely praying for strengthening and healing of Payton's little heart and I believe God can perform that miracle. It may not seem like it, but the tone of your posts is more hopeful and positive each day. We pray this slow steady progress will continue.
(P.S. Good idea, Ila. :-) Moms still get to make those kinds of decisions!)
Love you guys!
Dan, Sara and Gabe
Yeah! Way to go! I love your faith. My eyes well with tears when I read your updates. Ok, I will join you in praying for Payton's heart to be healed and that she will be strong enough to stay off the ECMO. That would be a God-sized God-glorifying miracle. I can't wait to see what God does!

We love you guys and continue to pray for you and sweet little Payton every day! It WOULD be so amazing for the Lord to heal her heart completely! We agree with you and join you in asking our kind Heavenly Father to do just that. We continue to be challenged and inspired by your faith.
As the song goes, "God is still on the throne" Hold on to that.
Hope you got our card. Have a wonderful b-day Heather.
love ya,

It's Heather's mom again. On the way into work today I was praying, praying, praying for Payton and I remembered a miracle that I had witnessed. Years ago as a surgical nurse, I participated in an operation on a tiny little baby who weighed about 1 pound. She was so fragile that she looked like a little kitten. The surgeon gave this child little but mostly no chance to survive. She came back to surgery numerous times until I finally lost track of her progress. Approximately 5 years later while channel surfing, I heard Pat Robertson mention that they were going to be featuring a little girl and as soon as I heard her name, I knew that it was that baby - and it was. There was a film clip of her running in the grass and of course the miracle of her healing. As we pray for Payton with our hands open, I ask God for another miracle in the life of our little Payton.

I will join you in your specific prayer request. I am trusting God for miraculous healing in Payton's life.
Happy Birthday, Heather! May God have planned for you a special blessing on your special day.
Love to each of you. Joyce Alison

We are praying for God to heal her little heart, as well as keep the 2 of you strong in the Lord and in your marriage. What a tough thing to walk through, but what a blessing to have each other!

We are anxious to hear how the ECMO went today! We have been praying for Payton throughout the day... and for her Mom and Dad... that they would continue to be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. We love you guys!
I just realized I referred to the test inappropriately. We look forward to hearing how she is doing after the extended decrease on the ECMO. We are praying with you...
Heather, We celebrated Logan's and Britton's birthdays last night at Brandon and Sheri's and thought of you. Later in the evening we watched the Minnick memories video that your mom had made years ago. So we got to see you and Britton with the carousel birthday cakes. Then we had the princess parade with you and Britton taking turns carrying the "lovely train" for each other in your jammies. Our favorite of you was the video of you pushing Ryan in the stroller out to the driveway and then leaving him there. You are walking away from him looking like you were thinking "Well, that's enough of him". What good memories! Have a wonderful birthday weekend. All my love to you and Aaron, Aunt SanDee.
