We saw quite a few elk. You can see they're above the tree line, not too far from the visitor center.

For our anniversary in mid-July, we went horseback riding and to Rocky Mountain National Park.
This is at the Alpine Visitor Center which you can drive up to and it at about 12,000 feet.
