No MRI today

Well, I was holding Payton this morning when her surgeon came in and said he didn't want to have to go through intubating and sedating Payton again. So, no MRI. We may still end up getting one done; we're not sure. They're waiting, as well, to see if she has any more breathing/breath holding episodes. I'm a little relieved as she was intubated twice last week, and it takes its toll on her. We'll see what the neurologists say as well and if we end up with an MRI soon or not. Right now she's doing great and is now being fed mild through her G-tube which goes directly into her stomach. When she's able to swallow without any liquid going into her lungs, she'll be able to feed orally. That's a wait-and-see - most likely another swallow study x-ray sometime in the future. If she continues to do well, there's a light at the end of the tunnel for us to go home, but we have no idea how soon that is. That's about all for today. We've just been enjoying holding her :).

Dear Jones Family,
You don't know us, but we're friends of the Schmalz' in Iowa. We're in the Pres. Office at Lake Hart.
3 weeks ago today, our special needs daughter Emily went to be with the Lord, after years of going through similar things to what you're going through. She is our 5th child and one of triplets. She was in the NICU her first four months of life, and when she was released, her medical file weighed more than she did! :-) She had 19 surgeries, mostly on her brain, and was such a fighter. I went through all the emotions you are likely going through, and more. The great news is the our God is a strong tower and the righteous run into it and are saved! His grace is not only sufficient but abundant...speaking from much experience here. Praying for you as you draw on that grace in ways you never dreamed you would need to.

Treasure your moments, journal as much as you can, take photos of the tiny hands and feet, and be extra nice to the nurses!

Heather and Aaron,
I wanted to shout out for ya' that we are still keeping lil' Payton in our prayers! I'm living with Samantha, Lisa, Chanelle & Lauren this summer, and I recently got hired at WWIB! :)
Romans 8:28 reminds us of our temporary and painful times on earth, and our loving and sovereign God. Keep that eternal, optimistic perspective, and either way, He will be glorified! We love you!

Aaron, Heather, and Payton,
Wanted to let you know that we are still thinking about you guys and we are praying for you. I'm sorry to hear about the setbacks but still looking forward to seeing you guys soon.
Jonesy, when you come back the guys are going to do something fun for you. The girls got Heather that thing at the spa, so we are going to do some guy stuff when you get back. (You know......... knitting, sewing, going to Panera Bread etc.)

We love the three of you so much.

We haven't seen an update in 3 days and I'm getting worried. I'm guessing that either you're busy holding Payton or she's had another setback. I hope it's because you're enjoying every minute with your precious one! Just know that we are praying for all three of you and we continue to mention her in our worship folder and on the air! Many are praying for you! Be encouraged -- God is in control - no matter what!
