The doctors said that the surgery went well yesterday and they had left her chest open to help the swelling go down. They sent Aaron and Heather home to rest only to call them back because Payton was experiencing an arrhythmia (fast beating heart). This is definitely not normal for babies to experience. Pray that this would not happen again.
Today (Saturday April 29th) they thought she was doing a bit better and closed her chest up. After doing this they noticed a rising level of potassium. They were getting ready to do a form of dialysis when they saw that her blood pressure was falling. They reopened her chest hoping this would help, but it gave only minor results. They then have been using a form of dialysis to deal with the risen potassium level and it seems to be helping a bit. Pray that both her potassium and blood pressure would return to normal.
Aaron and Heather are staying in a Ronald McDonald house for as long as needed. Right now you could pray that they would both get the rest they very much need. Especially Heather is having a hard time getting extended sleep.
If you would like to help them out physically the best thing would be to financially give toward the hospital bills that are growing by the day. You can give any of the staff at UWEC cash, checks for them that are made out to Campus Crusade for Christ, or staff can transfer money to their staff account at #0504139. Some of the staff will be going to visit them this week if you would like to send cards or any other gifts with us. If you would like to do this please call/email one of the staff so we can pick it up before we leave.
